Temperature Scales
There are three main temperature scales used worldwide:
- Celsius (°C): Used in most countries including India. Water freezes at 0°C, boils at 100°C.
- Fahrenheit (°F): Used in USA and some Caribbean countries. Water freezes at 32°F, boils at 212°F.
- Kelvin (K): Scientific scale. Starts at absolute zero. Water freezes at 273.15K.
Conversion Formulas
Celsius to Fahrenheit: °F = (°C × 9/5) + 32
Fahrenheit to Celsius: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9
Celsius to Kelvin: K = °C + 273.15
Kelvin to Celsius: °C = K − 273.15
Quick Reference
- 0°C = 32°F = 273.15K (Water freezes)
- 25°C = 77°F = 298.15K (Room temperature)
- 37°C = 98.6°F = 310.15K (Human body)
- 100°C = 212°F = 373.15K (Water boils)
